Highlights

You can of course go directly to whatever point you may find interesting, but for the sake of continuity and simplicity, lets start from the bottom; Dronning Louises bro.

It connects the City Center with Nørrebro. Some years ago, the sidewalks were widened, so it has become a popular spot for hanging out in the afternoon or evening sun, playing music, drinking beers and coffee and enjoying the spectacular views of the city, reflected in the water on the lakes on both sides

NØRREBRO

Nørrebro has a very strong identity, a lot of edge. It has always widely been considered somewhat rebellious to the established order. Both in political terms, with a strong leaning to the left, and in cultural terms, attracting artists, students, sub cultures, immigrants and different marginalized groups alike.

Today it also attracts more resourceful people. Gentrification, and market trends in general, has accelerated real estate pricing and life has changed.

In order to really experience Nørrebro, ideally one would spend weeks or months, because its very much about the special vibe it has. It is down to earth and avant garde at the same time, dense and spacious, easy going and hard rock.

But still, in a day or two, it is possible to get a touch of that vibe.

From Dr. Louises bro, Nørrebrogade stretches all the way to Nørrebro Station(not to be confused with 'Nørreport Station' 10 minutes walk in the other direction), that borders to the next district 'Nordvest'(North-west).

Nørrebrogade divides The district of Nørrebro into western and eastern Nørrebro. Consider all of Nørrebrogade an anchor point, or row of anchor points, alongside which you can find various sights and entertainment on both sides.

First street on your left, Blågårdsagade, is a 'hyggelig' pedistianised street, with cafe's eateries, some small shops, bars and galleries. There is usually a small flee market next to the spectacular urban football(soccer) 'field' 200 meters down the street.

Walk down Ravnsborggade on the other side of Nørrebrogade for more cafe's, a beer bar, Nørrebro's Bryghus', eateries and shops selling antiques.

Further up on the same side, 'Sankt Hans Torv' is a quitly pulsating square with some nice options surrounding it; good food, cafes, bars and clubs.

Check out 'Guldbergsgade' and some of the smaller streets surrounding it.

For the late hours 'Rust' in the beginning of Guldbergsgade is a popular, if not legendary club.

Michelin starred 'Kiin-Kiin, a little further up the street, is one of two such honored Thai Restaurants in the world. They have reasonable priced take out next door, in the sister restaurant called 'Aorii'.

Returning to Nørrebrogade, at some point on the left, a long yellow wall encloses 'Assistens Kirkegården', a beautiful cemetery, one of the biggest in the city, that doubles as a park. A good place to have a picnic(a not too loud one), in the old part, the half closest to Nørrebrogade. Catch sun in the grass, read a book under a tree, gaze at the many beautiful flowers and trees.

Sit on a bench, stroll and read the names on the tomb stones scattered around the place. Some of these include Hans Christian Andersen, Søren Kirkegaard, Niels Bohr, Ben Webster, among others.

Never leave garbage behind, always behave with respect to the place and other guests. Some People are there to mourn(...)

Back at Nørrebrogade, a little further up, to the other side, Superkilen, a colorfull urban park, designed by Bjarke Ingels , has activities year round. Good place to skate, or just hang out and people watch. The Park contains elements from other countries and cultures throughout the world, including a Thai boxing ring, Chinese palm trees, Russian comercial signs and more. The park is divided into three sections, a red, a black and a green and stretches 750 meters.

The park connects to Nørrebro Parken, on the other side of Nørrebrogade, a long narrow park, containing a so called 'Super bike lane' a bike lane part of a route of bike lanes called 'De grønne stier', The green lanes, a network of dedicated bikelane free of car trafic.

All alongside Nørrebrogade, you will find good and fairly cheap street food. Shawarma, Kebab, Falaffel, pizza etc. Many are very good, the one taking the official price for the best kebab in the city 2018 was Kösem, in the upper end of Nørrebrogade before Superkilen.

You can exit the cementary at Jagtvej further up North-west, cross the street and walk up Jægersborggade, a coblestoned street with small shops along both sides, selling everything from independant design, vegan hotdogs, porridge and caramel to New Nordic Cuisine and craft beer. There is a Michelin starred restaurant halfway up called Relæ and a sister restaurant on the other side called Manfreds. At the end of the street, where it meets Stefansgade, there is a Mikkeler Bar.

Stefansgade connects to Nørrebrogade further up. It has some nice authentic Nørrebro features, including the big and often buzy playground, some bars and cafe's, a nice small toy shop, excellent pizzas at Stefanos and the church Stefanskirken, a nice little church embrasing the diverse neighboorhood, making cross culture events, baby song sessions and more.
