
MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES
Copenhagen is packed with museums and galleries.
Many contemporary galleries spread around the city. The streetart and graffiti scene is vibrant, visit Christiania for a nice selection or Bolsjefabrikken i Nord-Vest for another. Nørrebro and Vesterbro both serves canvas for quite a lot.

For statues and french paintings visit Ny Calsberg Glyptotek next to Tivoli. You will find the biggest collection of Rodin statues outside France and some of the French grand master painters on diaplay. The museum houses the personal art collection of Carl Jacobsen, the son of the founder of Carlsberg. Entrance is free on Tuesdays.
More statues at Thorvaldsens Museum, Opposite Gl. Strand, the oldest museum in Copenhagen, with a collection of the 1800s sculpturor Bertel Thorvaldsens work. Beautiful architecture frames his statues. Free entrance on wednesdays.
Statens Museum for Kunst, in Sølvgade, is the National Art Gallery. It has the largest collection of arts counting around 10.000 paintings and sculptures and some 250000 drawings. All ages and genres represented and most of the international grand masters. Rembrandt, Rubens, Matisse, Monet, Manet, Modigliano, Picasso, Dali and more. Along side with the biggest Danish artist.
At the Botanical Gardens not far from there, you can visit the historical glasshouse and get a jungle like sensatoin, or you can walk the fantastic garden.

The Danish Jewish Museum near Christiansborg, the parliament building, is designed by Daniel Liebeskind, who is also behind the Jewish Museum in Berlin.
Next door you'll find The War Museum, housing a collection of items form all wars Denmark participated in.
Nikolai Kunsthal in the center is a modern art gallery located in the old Nikolai Church. Entrance is free on wednesdays.
Charlottenborg Kunsthal in Nyhavn has modern arts in spacious frames next to the Royal Academy of Arts.
For some 14.000 years of historygo to Nationalmuseet, The National Museum, near Christiansborg.
In Chistiansborg, next door, you'll find a vast collection of arts and history.Visit the tower for free(there is an elevator and a restaurant half way up, where you can get good Danish Smørrebrød.
For royal artefacts and exhibitions, visit the castle of Rosenborg in the center. The Royal Garden around the castle serves a classic frame for pic nics and events.

​At Amalienborg, The Royal Palace and residense, there is a museum going more in depth with the royal Palace and its residents troughout history.

For even more royal castles and accesories take an excursion to Hillerød 45 minutes ouside Copenhagen for Frederiksborg Castle, a renaissance castle mostly from the 1600's.
See world famous Danish design in Designmuseum Danmark in Bredgade, near the Royal Palace.
Learn about modern Danish Architecture at DAC in Blox, by the harbour front, that features exhibitions, tours and more. Check out the bookstore with a fantastic collection of book and posters on design and architecture. The building is designed by Dutch OMA.
In the Copenhagen Zoo, you will meet all kinds off animals, the newest addition are Pandas rented in China. They live in facilities designed by Danish starchitect Bjarke Ingels, BIG - The elephant cage is designed by british Sir Norman Forster.
Visit Louisiana 30 km up north for my personal favourite. Beautiful setting, amazing modernist architecture and massive collection of modern art, including works of all the great nodern painters and sculpturors. Spectacular contemporary exhibitions with some of the most rocognised artists.
Continue to Helsingør to see Kronborg, the Castle of Shakespears Hamlet and have a look at the Maritime Museum designed by Bjarke Ingels.
Watch vikingship in the old capital Roskilde and visit the Cathedral of Roskilde where most of the Danish Royals throughout history are burried.
